Creating a vision board might feel intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. A vision board is a simple, powerful tool that helps you visualize your goals, clarify what you truly want, and stay motivated as you work toward your dreams. Whether you’re aiming for career growth, better health, or personal fulfillment, putting your intentions on a board can make them feel real and achievable.
In this step-by-step guide, I’ll show you exactly how to create a vision board for beginners, from gathering your materials to arranging your images and quotes in a way that inspires daily action.
1. Reflect on 2025
I have said this a million times, and I will say it again. You cannot move on to 2026 without properly closing 2026. You cannot just go, yoh 2025 was crazy. Then think you will move on and make 2026 the best year of your life.
You have to reflect on how 2025 was. The things that worked, so that you can replicate them. The things that did not work, so that you don’t do them again. Learning from your failures is an active, intentional process. One that you do by reflecting on your mistakes.
I have created a free journal guide to help you reflect on 2025, and I have written an entire article walking you through it.
2. Set goals for 2026
You cannot jump into creating inspirational boards on Pinterest. You have to first figure out what you want and write it down. According to a prominent study conducted by psychology professor Dr. Gail Matthews. You are 42 percent more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down.
I know setting goals sounds daunting, but don’t worry, I’ve got you. I wrote you an article on how to set meaningful goals. And also an article with ideas for your New Year’s Resolutions.
3. Pick a theme for the year

Set an intention for the year to come. An overarching theme. The energy you want to embody in the new year. The vibe of the year, if you will. You can make this a word, like: Self-care, Consistency, Discipline, Community, or Joy.
It can also be a quote or a phrase: Feel the fear and do it anyway, Let all that you do be done in love, Be your own sugar daddy; make your own sugar, Stop and smell the roses…
Fun fact: I have used all the above quotes as my themes for a year.
4. Create a playlist
I know this piece of advice is unorthodox, but music is a huge part of our lives. You were probably going to listen to music while making your vision board anyway, so you might as well be intentional. If you were not going to listen to music, are you even human?
You are going to create a playlist that will make you feel like you can do anything. Hence why I named mine, Invincible. This playlist needs to heighten your excitement for the upcoming year. It needs to make you feel like that girl, and that you already have everything on your goal list.
Mine includes songs like Superheroes by The Script, Hall of Fame by The Script, Self by Khalid, All I Do Is Win by Dj Khaled, and Dream Bigger by Gremlin.
I would love it if you could comment below a few songs on your playlist.
5. Get your images
Now it is time to visualize your goals. With your goals in hand and your playlist on your headphones. Open one of the greatest apps in our time, Pinterest. Here you are going to find pictures that represent your goals, but not just that. These pictures need to inspire you. When you look at them, you need to wholeheartedly believe that that can be you.
Look for pictures with people who look as much like you as possible. Some people don’t like including other people on their vision boards. So they include pictures from “their perspective”. What I mean is, they pick pictures with what they want their view to look like when they achieve the goal.

When you search on Pinterest, include “aesthetic” at the end of everything. Working out aesthetic, small business aesthetic, talking on stage aesthetic, marrying a tall man aesthetic, reading 100 books, but still having time to go out with friends and work on my business and cook every night aesthetic.
Do not forget to save a picture of your word for the year. If it is a quote, go to Canva and create a blank picture with the quote on it. And do not forget to print it.
6. Create your vision board
Gather everything you will need to create a vision Board. That is the pictures you want to put on your vision board (printed pictures), a board (A3 size), double-sided tape, scissors, and your playlist.
Now create your vision board. At the centre of your board, put your theme word or quote. Then work from the centre and put all the other pictures around it.
Congratulations, you have created a vision board. Now put it somewhere you are going to see every single day. And make it a point to look at it at least once a day so that you can remember what you are working towards.
Remember, your goals don’t work unless you do. A vision board is not magical. You won’t magically get what you want just because you put it in your vision board. You actually have to work for it. A vision board is just there to inspire you and keep you accountable.
I love you, truly.
